The L. A. Foundation acknowledges its headquarters on the unceded territories of the Lək̓ʷəŋən People, now known as the Esquimalt and Songhees Nations. The foundation works across Turtle Island, celebrating and thanking the First Nations communities for their care and hospitality. They thank them for their continued care for the land and for welcoming them as guests within their traditional, ancestral, and unceded territory.

The acknowledgment of the ongoing discriminatory, racist, and colonial practices in North America serves as a reminder of the lasting legacy and barriers they continue to create.
The L. A. Foundation is an inclusive organization that supports women+, nonbinary adventurers, and allies in the outdoors. It is shifting from its previous name “The Lady Alliance” to the L. A. Foundation due to the need for action and change in the industry, and aims to embody the efforts of inclusion.
The nonprofit is working to eliminate binary exclusion by removing the term “lady” from its name. The term “lady” may feel obtrusive to some cis-gendered community members, and as an inclusivity-first organization, they are making significant changes to support everyone. They often use the term Women+ to highlight this effort, ensuring they support everyone and accurately represent their entire community. The goal is to be inclusive for everyone.

Project aims to enhance leadership in the outdoor industry by fostering confidence and community through adventure

The nonprofit is dedicated to promoting a more inclusive and equitable outdoor industry by supporting, promoting, and inspiring individuals and communities.
Aiming to achieve goals through two main pillars:

Local Grassroot Events-

Active chapters across Canada host monthly community-based meetups to build confidence, introduce newcomers to outdoor sports, and connect local communities through adventure.

Scholarships-

The BIPOC community is being promoted to leadership positions in the outdoor industry by reducing financial barriers through educational and gear-based scholarships.
They successfully overcome personal, societal, and financial barriers to inclusivity and equity in the outdoors together.
